Motorized Cart Ordinance

Motorized Cart Ordinance, Section 82-260, allows and provides safe guidelines for the operation of motorized carts (golf carts) within the City of Fayetteville.  Citizens that wish to use motorized carts as alternative and/or recreational transportation must register your motorized cart at the City of Fayetteville Police Department located at 760 Jimmie Mayfield Drive, Tuesday thru Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and in the afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.  You must be 18 years or older to register a golf cart.

There is a $20.00 registration fee and the registration shall be effective until such time as the cart is transferred to a new owner.  Cart users may only drive within subdivisions and authorized recreational paths.

The City currently has three authorized recreational paths that may be used.  The entire stretch of Helen Sams Parkway has a recreational path that may be used and the other two are:

  •     Lester Road from Cleveland Avenue Elementary School to the intersection of Lester Road and Old Norton Road
  •     Redwine Road from Longlake Approach to Lakemont Drive

(Carts may also be driven on Redwine Road from Lakemont Drive to Ramah Road, Towne Center and Summit Point once the construction of the path is complete.)
