Hwy. 54 Repaving Update: Crews begin around-the-clock work tonight through the weekend

Highway 54 repaving crews had a good night of paving Thursday, according to Georgia Department of Transportation District 3 officials, topping the inside westbound lane from a point close to Grady Avenue all the way out to the Crystal Lake/Whitewater Creek bridge. Crews are expected to start after 7 p.m. tonight from the North Jeff Davis Drive intersection and work now on the outside westbound lane.

Crews will work around the clock, weather permitting, until 6 a.m. Monday.

The plan is for crews to complete the asphalt topping for the main lanes of Hwy. 54 westbound to the Coweta County line and then work back through Peachtree City to Fayetteville in the main eastbound lanes. Once the main lanes of Hwy. 54 are completed, crews will pour asphalt topping on turn lanes and other areas. They will then reinstall loop timing systems at traffic-lighted intersections.

During all of this repaving, at least one through-lane will remain open, but expect traffic delays in the affected areas.

Please drive slowly and carefully past construction zones.
