Captain Ben Henning is a native of Henry County, Georgia where he graduated from Henry County High School in 1996. He went on to study business at the University of Georgia where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Risk Management and Insurance. He started his career in public safety with Spalding County Fire Department in 2007 and shortly thereafter, transferred to The City of Fayetteville Fire Department in 2008. In 2017, he was awarded the position of Fire Prevention Officer. In this position, Captain Henning is responsible for arson investigations, fire and life safety education, business inspections, and serving as the Assistant Fire Marshal in many different areas. Captain Henning holds certifications as Fire Officer II, Instructor II, Hazmat Technician, Fire and Life Safety Educator, Fire Inspector, and Arson Investigator. Captain Henning is a member of the Georgia Fire Inspectors Association and the Georgia Fire Investigators Association.
Fire department personnel perform numerous prevention and public relations functions such as annual pre-fire plan updates on all businesses in the City, annual code compliance inspections, annual hydrant maintenance, fire investigations, delivery of fire safety programs, severe weather safety programs, plan reviews, station tours, blood pressure screenings, and participation in Fayette County Safe Kids program.
