COUNCILWOMAN KATHALEEN BREWER

Kathaleen Brewer has been a city councilwoman since Jan. 2016. She has lived in Fayetteville since 2005.

Kathaleen graduated from the University of Southern California with a BS in Dental Hygiene, although her passion is centered around art education. Upon arrival in Fayetteville, she spearheaded an arts movement and owned Artworks on the Square. Although retired now, she is an active leader in the Fayette arts community. She is married to Richard Johnston, an Atlanta native, but she says she kept her last name since they married late in life.

Brewer says she moved to Fayetteville primarily to look after her aging parents (her father Glenn Brewer is a former Fayetteville City Council member), but she drawn by the more affordable cost of living and the friendly people. She says Fayetteville’s strengths include having a fiscally responsible government that listens to its citizens and a citizenry committed to helping one another.
