Fayetteville Community Cleanup Day returns Saturday, November 9

Join your neighbors and other community members on Saturday, November 9, for the annual Fayetteville Community Cleanup Day.

The event kicks off at 9 a.m. around the Lane Brown Gazebo in Downtown Fayetteville. Following a brief safety meeting, teams will spread out and pick up litter around the City. A group photo will be taken after the meeting, and teams are encouraged to continue taking selfies and sharing them on social media with #FayettevilleCleanup.

Teams are encouraged to pick areas in the City of Fayetteville that are significant to them, whether it is outside of their own church or school, around their subdivision entrance or perhaps even in shopping centers. Teams wanting to pick up litter around the Historic Downtown district will be given route sheets at the 9 a.m. safety meeting.

Participants are asked to bring their own gloves and litter-picking devices. The City will provide one trash bag per person while supplies last.

When trash is bagged, teams will leave the tied bags near the roadway, but not blocking roadways or sidewalks. Team leaders will e-mail the location of the bags to info@fayetteville-ga.gov, and Fayetteville Public Works crews will drive around Monday, November 11, picking up the bags.

Note: This bag pickup service is only for locations within the City of Fayetteville. Contact the City via info@fayetteville-ga.gov if you need help determining whether or not a location is within the city limits, or click here to download a City of Fayetteville map.

Participating groups will be recognized at a future Fayetteville City Council meeting, and participants will be invited to attend. These meetings take place on the first and third Thursdays of each month, 6 p.m., at Fayetteville City Hall.
