Georgia Cities Week in Fayetteville
Apr 20 – Apr 27 all-day

Georgia Cities Week returns to Fayetteville on Saturday, April 20, with 10 events planned over eight days.

The fun starts early that Saturday with the annual Run the Ridge 5K race on the west side of the city at The Ridge Nature Area, and then the fun moves downtown for Easterpalooza on the lawn of the Old Fayette County Courthouse. Georgia Cities Week concludes on Saturday afternoon, April 27, with the third-annual Church Street Park Festival. Throughout the week, participants will enjoy special events planned and run by City of Fayetteville employees to highlight and encourage community engagement.

Georgia Cities Week is an invention of the Georgia Municipal Association, and its purpose is to highlight the ways municipalities improve quality of life for residents and for the wider community.

Following is a complete list of Fayetteville’s 2019 Georgia Cities Week events:

Saturday, April 20 – Run the Ridge 5K, 8 a.m. at The Ridge Nature Area; Easterpalooza, 3-6 p.m. at the Old Fayette County Courthouse in Downtown Fayetteville.

Sunday, April 21 – Easter Sunrise Service, 6:45 a.m. at the Old Fayette County Courthouse in Downtown Fayetteville.

Monday, April 22 – “ Fayetteville Business Besties” photo contest, all day around Fayetteville. Post a Facebook picture of yourself at your favorite Fayetteville business, and be sure to tag the City of Fayetteville, Georgia (@fayettevillega.gov or #FayettevilleBusinessBesties), and we will draw three names at random to win an official, limited-edition Fayetteville coffee mug full of goodies.

Tuesday, April 23 – Public Safety Day, details to be released soon.

Wednesday, April 24 – Shred & Recycle Day, 9 a.m. to noon at Fayetteville City Hall. Bring up to 10 boxes of paper to shred, and bring your old electronics to recycle, but do not bring televisions, as they will not be accepted.

Friday Night LIVE – “Neon Night” @ Old Fayette County Courthouse
Apr 26 @ 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm

The first-ever Friday Night LIVE will light up Fayetteville’s Courthouse Square on April 26, beginning at 6 p.m. on the Old Courthouse lawn.

Hosted by Main Street Fayetteville, there will be four Friday Night LIVE events in 2019, including April 26, June 14, July 19 and August 16. This first event themed “Neon Night” will feature several glowing attractions, including inflatables, mini-golf, glow golf nets, cornhole, face painting, a live DJ and even glowing cotton candy.

More than a dozen vendors will be on site selling a variety of items, and MOM’s Club of Fayetteville will be offering glow bracelets and necklaces (donations welcomed).

“Locals have been asking for us to add more evening events, so we’re excited to roll out this Friday Night LIVE series,” said Main Street Program Manager Joyce Waits. “This inaugural event was planned to fit into the Georgia Cities Week lineup, so that made it even more special.”

All of the Friday Night LIVE events are scheduled to run 6-10pm. For more information about Main Street Fayetteville events, contact Waits at 770-719-4173 or jwaits@fayetteville-ga.gov.
