The Police Department used SPLOST funds in 2018 purchased two new license plate reader systems that are mounted to digital noticeboard trailers. These identical units are moved around the city to display special messages to motorists in addition to serving as license plate readers. One of those LPR systems is pictured below.

Also in 2018, the Police Department used SPLOST funds to purchase new and upgraded crime scene investigation equipment.
